Jewelry Appraisals
Learn about Jewelry Appraisals
Appraisals are important to keep your jewelry safe and properly insured. Our expert gemologists will assess your diamonds, gemstones, and gold with precise tools to give you an accurate cost assessment and valuation. Having an up-to-date appraisal is important in the event of a loss or damage to your fine jewelry. We recommend having your jewelry appraised every three to five years to ensure you are fully covered under your insurance policy.
Please indicate the type of appraisal you are seeking:
Insurance replacement Appraisal:
This type of appraisal is intended to be used under your insurance policy of choice, whether that is a personal policy or a general homeowners or renters policy. The value indicates replacing your jewelery in brand new condition with exact or incredibly similar pieces.
Fair Market Value Appraisal:
A fair market appraisal takes in the current condition of the ring and current market conditions, to place a value on what you could expect to sell the ring at on the secondary market. You can use this appraisal for selling your jewelery or making a charitable donation. The value reflects the actual selling price between a buyer and seller. Expect fair market values to be lower than insurance replacement appraisals, because replacement values reflect the cost to replace the item with a replicant.
Liquidation Appraisal:
A liquidation appraisal reflects the lowest value your jewelry would generate. This type of appraisal is used in cases like divorce settlements, estate liquidations depending on the jurisdiction, and what each individual case calls for.
There may be gemstones or items that you want to determine if they are fashion jewelry, or precious metal. You are more than welcome to make an appointment for us to go over the items, please indicate that is what you are seeking. Please note that a separate gem identification, or gold identification is NOT a formal appraisal and will not have a written document.
